Born in Aichi, Japan. Currently lives and works in the Netherlands.
Takeuchi was educated at BA in Photography at London College of Communication and MA in Fine Art at Aalto University, School of Art and Design Helsinki.
She mainly uses photography and video in the practice. Her central interest is to explore relationships between people, between humans and animals and between parallel realities. The works are often based on theoretical and philosophical researches, her own experiences, as well as inspirations from people she interviews for her work.
Since 2002, Takeuchi's work have been presented in numerous international exhibitions and film festivals; including the group shows at Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, USA (2009), Tokyo Metropolitan Photography Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2009), Australian Centre for Photography, Sydney, Australia (2010), de Appel Art Centre, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2012) and the solo shows at Galleri Image, Center for Fotografi, Aarhus, Denmark (2007), Bear Space, London, UK (2008). And her first movie was screened in Eye Film Institute, Amsterdam, Netherlands (2011), International Film Festival, Rotterdam, Netherlands (2012) among other festivals.
Her large panoramic photography is in the collection of George Eastman House, International Museum of Photography and Film, Rochester in USA.
